Hurricane Florence was devastating to North Carolina. For us, is was a rough ride mainly because of the amount of rain and toward the end, the local flooding. The original path predictions had the hurricane tracking directly over us. Later however the path was predicted go head south, west then north effectively circling us. What actually happened was that the hurricane actually started to track south but as it did so, it dissipated and spread with the northerly, onshore bands effectively remaining across North Carolina. This kept the rain coming.
Alex’s Sophomore Concert
Alex has found a great group of friends in band so band hasn’t just become a subject, it’s become social and although Shira (who won an award) is a rising senior so this is her final band concert, they will remain great friends. Shira has also sparked an interest in Alex to start playing jazz. Perhaps we’ll see him in future playing jazz on stage.
Scroggs’ Garden
On Sunday, we went to Mary Scroggs’ Elementary school to help out with their garden that Jeanette is leading. We did a short video of the day to help promote community interest:
Thanks Thanksgiving!
We joined the amazingly giving Snyder family for Thanksgiving. There is nothing better than spending Thanksgiving with an American family as we experienced in Shanghai with the wonderful Lew family especially given we’re not American and Thanksgiving isn’t an Australian holiday. So for this year I decided to do family photos for everyone who attended (which made it feel a little like ‘work’ but since many others were also working … why not!) . The result seas very rewarding and everyone appreciated it which meant everyone felt even more blessed! The photos are here
