Scroggs’ Garden
On Sunday, we went to Mary Scroggs’ Elementary school to help out with their garden that Jeanette is leading. We did a short video of the day to help promote community interest:

With Laura reaching the end of middle school (grade 5) and Alex reaching the end of Middle School (grade 8), both this week with the end of the school year, attended ‘Moving Up’ Ceremonies. They were quite moving with the obvious conclusions of small eras and both were very well done and fitting. What was particularly wonderful is the almost equal mix of races (Caucasian, African American, Asian, Latin, etc) and students who took the most popular peer applause were clearly because of the force of their personalities, and not related to color, shape or size. In terms of color, the African American families came in big groups and dressed in beautiful rich colors and cheering loudly for their students’ … absolutely fabulous!!!

Alex has had a stunning year with music. The music program at Phillips MS has really pushed him but he has thrived. He loves playing his alto-saxaphone and thanks to his music teach, Mrs Jane Cutchin who has a strong relationship with the music staff at East Chapel Hill HS, he looks good to be able to extend his music next year as he starts high school. We are super proud of him and have enjoyed his music immensely!
